  Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez says that his team won’t let Gareth Bale excel again when his team plays at Tottenham in Tuesday night’s Champions League showdown at White Hart Lane.

  Bale scored a fantastic hat-trick in Spurs’ 4-3 defeat at the San Siro and Benitez vows his team won’t let it happen again.

  The former Liverpool manager said: 'Bale isn’t unstoppable. We conceded goals because we relaxed when we were 4-0 ahead, thinking of the next game.

  'The first half was very different from the second half, a totally different game, but we’d already done enough to win. We won’t relax in the game in London.

  'We know what we have to do and we’ll make sure we play well enough to get a good result.'

  GARETH BALE has set his own personal bar high — to be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.

  Welsh wizard Bale made his mark on the football world with his sensational hat-trick in Spurs' 4-3 Champions League defeat at Inter.

  Now he wants to prove he can be as good as Real Madrid's £80million ace Ronaldo.

  Bale, 21, said: "With world-class players like Ronaldo, teams double up on him and he still finds a way.

  "As a player, you've got to keep trying to improve your all-round game — to kind of be unstoppable.

  "Teams are trying to stop me and I've got to think of other ways to get past them."

  It is an incredible turnaround for Bale, who once went 24 Premier League games without winning in a Tottenham shirt and was on the verge of being loaned out by boss Harry Redknapp.

  He added: "I would not say I was never worried but I wasn't dwelling on it. I've always had confidence in my own ability."

And while it was Bale who took the plaudits in the San Siro, Lennon had a decent game and is a potentially dangerous outlet for Spurs, especially if Inter mark Bale heavily. Rafa Benitez's 4-2-3-1 formation means there should be space out wide for Tottenham to exploit.

  Tottenham 's approach to dealing with Wesley Sneijder differed greatly after half-time in Milan.

  In the first 45 minutes, they made the grave error of standing off the Holland playmaker and he ran the game, dictating the pace and orchestrating the move which saw Inter win a penalty and Heurelho Gomes sent off.

  In the second half, Tottenham's central midfield duo of Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas got in tight on Sneijder and massively reduced his influence.

  Someone needs to take responsibility for marking him closely tonight or, just as in Milan, the game could be over almost before it has begun.

  I feel Spurs are favourites tonight with their home ground advantage and also news that Vdv is ok... Also, Italian teams are not use to very fast, high tempo style... Inter will need Lucio to be on his very best to keep the score down...

  RAFAEL VAN DER VAART has been trading insults with Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder ahead of tonight's Champions League showdown. 

  The close pals and Dutch international team-mates have been teasing each other relentlessly in the build-up to the return between Tottenham and Inter at White Hart Lane.

  San Siro star Sneijder kicked off after the Italian club's amazing 4-3 win over Spurs in Milan last month. 

  He tweeted a message for Van der Vaart, who missed the match through suspension, saying: "I'm cleaning the Champions League trophy with a Tottenham shirt."

   

  North London's newest hero replied: "Thanks for cleaning it up for me. I'm already creating space in my cup cabinet."

   

  Sneijder has since upped the ante, warning his friend: "We're gonna give you a football lesson in London."

  Sneijder has also mocked English football claiming it is all about power and athleticism not skill and technique.

  He said: "In that country football is a game where you have to run as hard as you can from the one end of the pitch to the other, isn't it?"

  Sneijder was taking the mickey again last week after Van der Vaart scored from a few inches out in the 1-1 draw against Everton.

  He quipped: "Nice goal, but even my six year old cousin would have scored this one." 

  To which Van der Vaart responded: "These goals also count but at White Hart Lane against you guys I will score from every angle." 

   

  Now before anyone from the English or Italian FA thinks about disciplinary charges, they should realise it is just banter between pals. Van der Vaart grinned: "We have the same sense of humour."

   

  While Sneijder added: "We both started at Ajax of Amsterdam as young kids so we understand each other."

  But for once the players who have been team-mates at Ajax, Real Madrid and with Holland will be on opposing sides.

  Sneijder concluded: "It's strange and nice at the same time. We have to forget our friendship for a moment, but only on the pitch."

  No wonder Spurs got beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford. Harry Redknapp used the wrong players.

  You don't pair up Van der Vaart with Robbie Keane. Been to Celtic and back, obviously he does not know how the new Spurs work. Against Inter, he should play Crouch with Pavlyuchenko. If Van der Vaart is available, play him with Crouch. Use Crouch's height to their advantage when Bale or Lennon goes on attack.
