Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has committed his future to the Italian club and ended speculation he may move to Manchester United by signing a new contract until 2015.
Sneijder, 26, won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League with Inter last season and also starred for Netherlands as they reached the final of the 2010 World Cup. However, he was linked with a move to the Premier League after stalling on terms for a new deal at the San Siro, alerting some of Europe's elite.
Now he has put pen to paper on a two-year extension to his current deal, worth in the region of €5 million per season according to the ANSA news agency.
''The fans will be happy above all else because we have today reached an agreement with Wesley Sneijder for a contract extension until 2015,'' Inter president Massimo Moratti was quoted as saying on the club's website. ''Sneijder became a key player for Inter last season and will be this year, and for many years to come.
''The negotiations started a despite the fact he had a long time to go on his old deal (which ran out in 2013) but with mutual satisfaction they were completed this morning.''
