I would be surprised if this deal goes through. But it would be a magnificent coup though.

Sure, why not?
Remember Gabriel Heinze? He openly declared his wish to join Liverpool from United but Fergie blocked the move and sold him to Real Madrid instead.

Unless Liverpool can find a better club to his liking too... I mean, Henize wanted to go to Pool at that time cos that was the biggest club interested on his services other than the few French sides... But hey, when Real Madrid came calling... He totally forgot about Pool and went with the flow of things...
I mean, he could have refused to go to Real and sit out his contract than join whoever he wishes or United would have to let him join Pool in order not to lose out on a transfer fee and also paying a needless salary.
Spurs didn't want to sell Berbatov to United, they send him to City for a medical only for him to insist he wants to join United upon arrival in Manchester airport and not City... In the end, they also have to give in cos no point keeping an unhappy player which may disrupt the team and lose out on a transfer fee. But not to take Real's offer and join Pool would be a no brainer for Henize... I guess that's why he was more than happy to go along with Fergie... lol.

Hodgson warns United off Reina
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has warned Manchester United that goalkeeper Jose Reina is not for sale.
The Spain international was linked with the Reds' arch-rivals earlier this week and Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past.
But Hodgson told the Liverpool Echo: "We have heard nothing from Manchester United and, more to the point, we don't want to hear anything from Manchester United."
He added: "If (Sir Alex) Ferguson is looking around at the end of the season and he has got lots of money to replace (Edwin) van der Sar, he might very well want Pepe Reina because he is the best around.
"But we do not want to sell him. I would like to think that we are going to become a successful club once again and Pepe is crucial to that."

This Roy is weird... First he was the one to come out suggesting United might try to get Torres should Rooney leave...
Now he is talking about Reina... I mean, for all we know, Fergie might not even want him cos VDS is still doing ok and probably will stay until at the end of the season not to mention what if he stays another season? So why talk about it now?
Anyway, $20m for Reina is also quite ex... Might be better to try for the Dutch or German keeper better...
Mr roy, look carefully, it is not only MU that is circling like vultures... and not only reina that is targetted... sleep well...haha..
