  JOSE MOURINHO has won his turf war at Real Madrid.

  The outspoken Special One slammed the Bernabeu surface as "a potato field".

  So the Spanish giants agreed to put down new turf after their 3-0 win over Espanyol on Tuesday.

  Mourinho said: "It isn't easy to play on a potato field."

  Real Madrid's English groundsman Paul Burgess said: "The pitch has a serious disease which has killed all the grass."
