  Angelo Henriquez has no intention of wasting his dream move to Manchester United.

  The 18-year-old had a medical with the Old Trafford outfit on Wednesday and was due to meet Sir Alex Ferguson to sort out his short-term future.

  That could involve remaining at Old Trafford, or being allowed to leave on loan, either to an English club or his present team in Chile, Universidad. United have yet to confirm details of the deal.

  However, speaking to Chile paper La Tercera, Henriquez touched on his bewilderment at the speed of the deal.

  'I am super happy to get to Manchester United. I'm fulfilling a dream,' he said.

  'I am going where I wanted. 'You look on television and see the outstanding players, scoring spectacular goals. I cannot waste this opportunity.

  'It is not clear what will happen with my future. 'I want to play in the first team of Manchester United. That's my first thought.

  'If they decide to send me on loan, I would prefer to continue at Universidad, although I will do whatever United deem appropriate.'

  Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has won a major signing battle with neighbours City by landing Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez.

  Ferguson convinced the teenage sensation to join the Reds in whirlwind talks after City made a concerted attempt to hijack the move - as exclusively revealed by MirrorFootball.

  The youngster flew into Manchester for a medical after deciding to stick by United - who have had an agreement set up with him for months - despite their 'noisy neighbours' being ready to pay more money.

  Sources close to Henriquez revealed his 'heart' is still with United, who have courted him for years - they even had him over for a visit in his early teens - and struck an agreement two months ago, as we revealed in June.

  United decided to take up the option with Universidad de Chile to avoid champions City gazumping them and they will now try to secure a work permit for the starlet.

  Henriquez lived up to his youthful promise with a burst of goals after he broke into Universidad's first team.

  Both the Manchester clubs were camped out to watch him in action at a tournament in Holland over the weekend and the player's agent was due to meet the two sides.

  However, Henriquez took the decision out of everyone's hands by heading for Old Trafford immediately.

  Manchester United have finally confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Angelo Henriquez.
  

  The Chilean striker underwent a medical with the club in August ahead of his £4million move, but only now have the Premier League giants reacted to the capture.
  

  The South American moves to Old Trafford from Universidad de Chile, where he scored 11 goals in 17 league games in 2012 on-route to helping his team to the national title.
  

  Of the transfer, Sir Alex Ferguson said: 'Angelo has made a tremendous impact on the game in his short career so far. His pace is a great asset and he reads the game really well for someone of such a young age.
  

  'We have a proud record of developing young talent and Angelo fits the profile of a United player – skilful, attacking and someone who plays the game with real flair.'

  
  

  

  Watching brief: Henriquez has been around the club for the best part of a month

   

   

  The player himself added to Manchester United's official website: 'I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. Manchester United is a great team and has a great manager.
  

  'To be able to be part of that is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started.  I hope I can be part of many successful years with United.'

  why buy so many strikers when priority is in midfield? where is the long term replacement for giggs and scholes and the dodgy carrick and the injury prone and inconsisten anderson?
