Manchester City have been drawn to play against Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup.
City knocked United out of the competition at last season's semi-final stage before going on to win the competition, and defeated their local rivals 6-1 at Old Trafford in their most recent meeting, so the Red Devils will be eager to get revenge when the teams meet at Eastlands next month.
Arsenal, who last won the competition in 2005, will take on Championship side Leeds United at Emirates Stadium, while 2010 winners Chelsea play Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham have a home tie against League Two side Cheltenham, while Liverpool will play either Southend or Oldham at Anfield.
Stoke, last season's defeated finalists, will make the trip to Gillingham and Everton will be eager to avoid embarrassment in their game against Conference side Tamworth at Goodison Park. Newcastle also host Blackburn in an all-Premier League tie.
Ties will be played on the weekend of January 7-8.

why?
so early in the competition....
haha..
with city rivals threaten to run-away leaders in the premier league.... the red devils are left with the FA Cup as a possible achievement this season.

Champions League....? i really doubt they can go far....
yep.. the writings on the wall.. since the 6-1 hammering, it has taken a lot out of the players, esp mentally.
This season, MUFC may end up with nothing. Traditionally, MUFC performs better in the 2nd phrase, but I don't think the other contenders will fare that badly given how they have buffer their squads.. Also, UCL's hopes hang on a thread.. if they get a good result in basel, perhaps they may miss the big guns.Else, they may have to exert more which may/may not impact their title chase.
Carling cup is gone.. FA cup, is the one left where they may have a chance, but with City now on a rampant mood and form, it would be difficult for MUFC.
Rio is taking about revenge, but I think more of redemptions.
good lah.. if out of fa cup early can concentrate on the other 2. our fa cup record is crap anyway.
even if ucl clash out.. well at least got chance to win a new cup - uefa cup never win before leh.
end with nothing is also good, can force the owners to buy the players we desperately need.

i don't think the owners will sponsor big.. of course unless we get new arab owners.. hahaha...
Their Noisy neighbour will do them in again!
Honestly, I think it's a good opportunity to have been selected against them... Cos since their last meeting in Oct or something, they wouldn't get the chance to meet till late April or May to get back. And this may be too late to shake them a little. So this repersents a good opportunity as it can't do them any bad in my opinion. Winning could really give their confidence a boost and at the same time knock City's own. And losing means getting out early so as to concentrate in the league.
So for me, i really am rather pleased with this draw...
Also the last time they met, Vidic wasn't fit and we had to use Evans who was the main problem of that lost. Now they are shutting out at the back which is important.

they will have to do something surely... the fans will revolt and potential buyers will be on alert.. if we win nothing for an extended period they will be forced to sell the club. Only a matter of time I thk.
the match haven play yet, so what makes you think that united will be out of the fa cup? this is a new game, new competition. I am relishing this game in January, whatever the outcome.
