EPL Game 12
Manchester United :
De Gea, Ferdinand, Evans, Rafael, Vidic, Jones, Fabio, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Park, Carrick, Berbatov, Young, Anderson, Valencia, Rooney, Giggs, Diouf, Cleverley, Hernandez, Gibson, Macheda, Lindegaard.
Smalling, Welbeck, Owen - Out
The pair were the hits of United's explosive opening to the new campaign before injury. But they will be back for Saturday's game at Swansea as Alex Ferguson's troops look to close the five-point gap on bitter rivals Manchester City.
Cleverley, 22, has not played a league game since suffering an ankle injury at Bolton on September 10.
The midfielder returned against Aldershot in the Carling Cup where he suffered another ankle problem and has missed the last two games.
New £16million buy Young picked up a toe injury in training before United's trip to Everton on October 29 — ruling him out of the two England internationals.
But the 26-year-old has been back in training this past week and will return to the wing where he has been both a supplier and goalscorer for United.
Striker Danny Welbeck is, however, a doubt for the trip to Wales to face Brendan Rodgers' side.
He picked up a muscle injury after coming on as a substitute for England against Spain last Saturday.

I happy I put San Juan's time mah...
Not happy is it?
After watching city play newcastle just now, haha i think i'd better just watch utd develop their kids la. Utd has not been playing champion's level football the last two seasons, shd look at their neighbours and learn something. So many times down the years, when teams like arsenal and chelsea came in, i thought that's it. And then they still go on to win EPLs, european cups......this time i believe will be no different. Utd will become stronger two years later.
We did not deserve to win this to be very honest. Haven't learnt lesson since before Chelsea's game, and the huge loss to City.
Fletcher is gone for me, that long sickness thing has taken the air out of him, he hasn't been impressing. Giggs, experienced yet jittery in Wales? Weird. Park is tireless, runs for balls and all, but I hate seeing him on the ball for too long, he will lose it. Carrick did his job, just barely.
Nani today, no trickery, no outwitting, nothing. Good game for Portugal, shit for us today.
We really, really need a midfielder, Clev needs time to develop. Rooney cannot do everything.
United dont deserve the 3 points today.
Haiz
another 1-0
where did the last time man utd go?
Well Swansea isn't an easy side to beat, they went to Anfield and got a draw there and are unbeaten at home until last night. So to be honest, the 3 points is exactly what United need and got. They may not be on fire but it's important to get the job done even when you are not playing at the top of your game.
Yes swansea is not an easy side to beat but the glaring deficiencies are there for utd. Giving away the ball needlessly, misplaced passes, lack of creativity penetrating down the middle....it has been happening all too long. Utd will be punished once they meet the better passing teams like city, real and barca. Wait and see.
I have said this many times. United midfield been the same old players playing for many years now, fletcher, carrick, anderson, giggs. what happen to that anderson? is he going to replace scholes permanently or a bit part player? bad news that Cleverley is out till december as he is a fresh breadth of air this season. Nani was involved in portugal match in midweek, so that took out a lot of him. on hindsight, should have let Valencia start the match instead.ok players that didnt play in midweek are rooney, park, carrick, giggs, rio, fabio, so they should be fresh for the match.
truth be told, city is on fire now, this season is theirs to win, unless they implode in the latter stages of the season. united also need to go to city and beat them at their turf is it is still 5 points clear of them and hope city tumble against the top teams.
I will take the 1-0.
This is a side that has not lost a home game since the start of season.
Tough place, partisan crowded.
the goal resulted from a defensive error from swansea, as the defender passes straight to giggs, who just cross and hernandez to deliver at close range. united should have gone for the jugular, but didnt, contented at closing ranks and protecting the 1-0 lead. I dunno if this is negativity, but it isnt man united way of attacking football it seems.
One thing I must admit is that we've been better at the back. Not very open as we've been seeing since the start of the season.
De Gea's getting more protection from the back four. Not as shaky, or panicky as the past two months. I just hope we have a more solid lineup in the back, not constant changes in the defence (4 different defenders every week). It was good to see Rio and Vidic at the back again.
Hopefully we can start working on moving forward again. Rio can't play week in week out, his back is a timebomb. Vidic will not be around for Benfica and Basel.
watched the game.. swansea players are not that bad, they are also fast.. but United are giving the balls away too easily.
And as per most mentioned, MU lack a MF general. many times, Rooney is dropping so far back just to pick up the ball and sometimes, he is waving his hands for players to attack.. his outlets are usually to nani on the right or park.. not possible to thread into the congested middle.
I still think SAF is balancing experience with games play. Other than the defence/GK, where players/roles are more stable. The MFs and wide players are rotated a lot.
Problem, if you don't play them, they get less and less match fit like a carrick or anderson or even Berba. So even if you name them as subs and U can only put them in when U are winning by large margins, they won't be able to change a game given their match fitness and sharpness. catch 22 le.
Young is recovered but he is rested, but surely he has to be toss in sooner than later to regain his match fitness.
Cleverly is for the future. He brings a spark, but maybe in EPL.
Given how well the rest of the UCL teams are playing like RM, Barca, BayerM, I fear if MUFC were to successfully moved into next round, they may have some trouble.
why didnt fergie go buy Jack Rodwell, if he doesnt buy sneider in the off season?
ok forget about buys now, how about fast tracking Paul Pogba to the first team? he is tall and lanky, saw him play for reserves, he got talent to pass, tackle and dribble, reminds me of patrick viera when he first joined Arsenal in the late 90s.
