Tom Cleverley is ready to return to Barclays Premier League combat at Everton this weekend after making his comeback at Aldershot in midweek.
The promising midfielder played for an hour in the Carling Cup win after being sidelined since hurting his foot during the victory at Bolton last month.
Cleverley impressed at the EBB Stadium and was involved in the build-up to Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia's goals, as well as knitting things together neatly in mdfield. However, Sir Alex is not concerned that too much expectation is being placed on the 22-year-old's shoulders after his absence coincided with a general drop in form.
"Tom has got the potential, the expectation lies with everyone," asserted the boss. "For any United player, we expect a certain standard.
"Tom played his first game on Tuesday night – we gave him an hour. He had trained for about 10 days so he was in good physical condition for it.
"Given that we have a game tomorrow, I think an hour was just about right for him."
