United will travel to Liverpool on Sunday without first-choice centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Vidic is suspended after seeing red on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge, while Sir Alex says Ferdinand “won’t be fit” for the lunchtime clash.
The boss delivered the news after United slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea in a game that ended with Reds skipper Vidic given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
That means Wes Brown will be drafted in to play alongside Chris Smalling on Sunday.
“Wes will take over,” Sir Alex said. “He has great experience.”
The manner of Tuesday’s defeat clearly rankled the manager, but he insisted the Reds must now look ahead to the next challenge.
“At this club, you have to recover,” he told MUTV. “That result’s put us back but we have to recover for Sunday’s game against Liverpool.
“We didn’t deserve to lose [at Chelsea]. We played some fantastic stuff at times. It’s hard to take.”

I'd rather have Brown than Evans la. If Brown is a small gamble than Evans must be a "show hand".
