Berbatov; happy to stay
The striker, 30 last Sunday, will have just a year left on his current contract at the end of this season.
But United want to replace that with a new offer which will see his wages rise from £100,000 a week to around £120,000 a week.
Talks are set to start before the end of the season but Berbatov - who has hit 19 Premier League goals this term - has been made aware the club want the contract done and he is happy to stay.
It marks a huge turn-around in his fortunes after United were ready to unload him in the summer.
His first two seasons at Old Trafford were poor following his £30.75million switch from Spurs in August 2008.
But the Bulgarian has hit top form in his third season at the club while strike partner Wayne Rooney has struggled with just four league goals.
