Steve Bruce’s special relationship with his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson has helped swing the deal
MANCHESTER United have won the £20million scramble for the signature of Sunderland’s emerging England international Jordan Henderson.
The 20-year-old, who earned his first senior cap in November’s Wembley friendly against France, has attracted a number of Premier League admirers including Manchester City and Chelsea.
But Sunderland boss Steve Bruce, currently in talks over a new contract to reward his outstanding work on Wearside, believes attacking midfielder Henderson,, is bound for Old Trafford in the summer.
Bruce’s special relationship with his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson has helped swing the deal United’s way.
The exact details of the transfer have yet to be finalised but both Sunderland and the player have indicated that Old Trafford will be Henderson’s destination.
United could offer North East born Michael Carrick as part of the deal but it is believed that Bruce would prefer Ferguson to allow him to keep on-loan Danny Welbeck.
But the United boss believes that Welbeck can use his season long loan experience to spark a successful career with his parent club and is reluctant to part with the striker.

I doubt he will move on as early as Walcott and Bale after seeing how they failed to live up their billings and it was only this season that Bale finally made the breakthrough as expected of him, 3 years after leaving Southampton while the whole world is still waiting to see the "new Henry" in Walcott.
confirmed?
it would be better than throwing insane money like pool and chelsea..
wah so much meh?? maybe 7m la.....

T&C la.. upfront maybe 8M and then adds on if he makes it to England 1st team, etc etc.
was hoping MU get jack rodwell also..
ronaldo came 6 years ago for 7m. Now jordan henderson comes for 20m. Don't me he's the next ronaldo?
I think many english players are over-rated, over priced. Just look at rooney, how much value would he command? 40m pounds? Likely suitors will pay that kind of money for him but he's simply overrated.
Only people like xavi and messi are worth 40m pounds.
he has potential to be as good as lampard and gerrard. he will be the long term successor to scholes in the middle of the park.

True, but you never know really, United youth system is better compared to Tottenham or Arsenal.
