Manchester United Midfielder Michael Carrick Wants To Stay At Old Trafford For Rest Of Career

England international confident Red Devils can win Premier League title

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has said he wants to remain at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.

The former Tottenham player's contract with the Red Devils is due to expire in 2012 and he revealed that discussions about a new deal have yet to take place.

However, the 29-year-old would be delighted to sign on for the rest of his playing days.

"I've had some unbelievable times here and, hopefully, will have many more. I love everything about being a United player," he told The People.

"Nothing has happened regarding talks as yet, but this is the place for me - it's a great club.”

The midfielder is delighted to be playing again after spending six weeks on the sidelines following an injection in his Achilles tendon.

"It's been a struggle, but as a player you have ups and downs,” he said.

Carrick believes that Manchester United will be boosted after Saturday’s stunning 7-1 win over Blackburn, which propelled them to the top of the Premier League table.

"We believe if we can hit top form then we have a great chance of winning the league."

wah lau....talk big again. When will these players learn? United were awesome on sat but they are a long way from the title. They still have to face teams like newcastle, spurs, pool, chelsea, arsenal and city again.

well i believe his words are taken out of context, but from his words, please read the ones in bold -> "We believe if we can hit top form then we have a great chance of winning the league."

why is he talking big? to me, he is quite logical.

well, EPL is one of the most physical league.

I think even if this german dude comes, there has to be ample replacements or strength in depth.

unless carrick is terribly expensive, he is good to hold on to.

Gibson has a lot of hype, but other than the few good shots, most times, boh-boh leh.

gibson is seriously not very creative....everytime he plays....the incisive cutting play is almost non-existent, well nowadays we have nani and scholes to a limited extent. And worst of all, he cant tackle!! haha wtf a midfielder who cant tackle.

Have to agree with you. But I think because he fits the bill of "Home Grown" status, which is why his service is retained. However, come January, i believe he will be farmed out and Cleverley will be starting in his place.
