Rare opportunity: Anderson (second left) vies with Valencia's Luis Miguel in the Champions League
Brazil midfielder Anderson has been tipped to complete a January move from Manchester United to Panathinaikos.
The Greek champions, last week appointed Jesualdo Ferreira as head coach, have shown interest in the 22-year-old since the summer.
Ferreira was Anderson's boss at Porto before the box-to-box midfielder left for Old Trafford three years ago and the Portuguese has reportedly given the go-ahead for a renewed bid.
Anderson, injured in a car crash in July, is out of favour at United and has started just two of the club's 14 Barclays Premier League fixtures this season.
Reports in Greece say Portguese super agent Jorge Mendes met Panathinaikos sporting director Carlos Freitas in Athens last week to discuss a deal that would see the player join on loan till the end of the season - perhaps with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
French clubs have previously shown interest, including Lyon and champions Marseille.
I think Anderson should stay as i believe he's the natural replacement for Hargreaves, whom on the other hand should leave.
