EDWIN VAN DER SAR will call time on his illustrious career at the end of the
season, according to Manchester United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele.
The Dutch star, 39, has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Old Trafford
since joining from Fulham five years ago.
In that time, Van der Sar has won three Premier League titles, the Champions
League, Carling Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
But he has yet to get his hands on the FA Cup and Steele revealed the Red
Devils' No1 intends to put that right in his swansong campaign.
The United coach said: "I think Ed has made his mind up and said this is his
last year.
"He hasn't won the FA Cup and that is a big target for him.
"He has won most things in the game — there is not much left he
hasn't."
Despite United boss Alex Ferguson's preference of playing a reserve keeper in
domestic cup ties, Steele insists Van der Sar will be desperate to play this
term.
He added: "When we rotate our keepers I think you will see him knocking
on the door and asking the boss to play in the FA Cup.
