  NICE ONE MATE ... but Fergie (right) can't wait to face Smith in the Champions League

  ALEX FERGUSON is relishing another Battle of Britain night against Walter Smith's Rangers.

  Manchester United are set to face the Scottish champions in their Group C opener at Old Trafford on September 14.

  Smith worked as Fergie's No 2 in 2004 and the United boss said: "Walter's already been on about tickets! We're both really looking forward to it."

  United faced Celtic in the Champions League in 2006 and 2008 and Rangers in 2003.

  Ibrox supporters were also in Manchester for the 2008 UEFA Cup final at Eastlands - when some fans caused trouble in the city.

  But Supporters Trust chairman Stephen Smith rubbished talk of a travel ban insisting: "There were 150,000 Rangers fans in Manchester for the final and only a tiny fraction were involved in trouble.

  United also face Spaniards Valencia and Bursaspor of Turkey.

  Ferguson added: "It's a good draw for us. The only trip of any great distance is the one to Turkey."

  BURSASPOR

  TOPPED the Turkish Super League last season to qualify for the Champions League and were also runners-up in the Turkish Super Cup.

  The club reached the quarter-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup way back in the 1974-75 season.

  SCOTTISH Premier League champions and managed by former Everton boss Walter Smith.

  United chief Alex Ferguson played 57 times for the Glasgow giants between 1967 and 1969, scoring 25 goals for the club.

  ROBERTO SOLDADO

  SPANISH side will be much less of a threat without star duo David Villa and David Silva.

  They were both sold over the summer to balance the books. Their first league game of the season on Saturday against Malaga will show a lot.
