Ryan Giggs is one of United's all-time greats
The veteran midfielder, 36, has performed superbly over the last 18 months and won the PFA Player of the Year for last season, as well as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
But while Giggs has committed to just the one extra year, boss Alex Ferguson is convinced he could play on for a few more seasons.
The Scot said: "Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure that he will play for another two years.
"His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football."
Giggs has amassed over 820 appearances for his only professional club, winning 11 Premier League titles and two European Cups.
But the former Wales skipper has no intention of resting on his laurels just yet.
He added: "I am delighted that I have agreed one more year.
"I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with Manchester United."
I hope he gets his 1k mark!
