Manchester United are a step closer to landing Valencia striker David Villa.
The Daily Mail says Valencia will not be able to resist Manchester United's attempts to sign Villa, according to reports in Spain.
The La Liga club will have to listen to offers for prized trio Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata in a bid to reduce debts of about £450million.
Villa tops Sir Alex Ferguson's hit list, with United hoping £35m will be enough to lure the 27-year-old to Old Trafford.
United, Chelsea and Manchester City were all interested in Villa in the summer, only to be told he would only consider leaving Valencia for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Spain's big two have since shelled out on alternative centre forwards and Villa no longer rules out playing outside of his homeland.
fergie said he wont sign another striker
Ferguson has been linked with moves for a number of players, including Everton's highly-rated youngster Jack Rodwell.
However, Ferguson insists he will not pay over the odds for anyone and is happy to stick with what he has got at Old Trafford.
"I'm in the same position as I was in the summer," said Ferguson.
"There are a lot of players out there, all valued by their current clubs at £50million. Given the prices being asked, I just do not see the value."
yea..stay at spain !
if he go barce..then barce like spain team already..
lol.

hmm but this could just be a tactic employed by united...
act only la i think...
my one from teamtalk.com, yours from tribalfootball leh
who's one more 'acting'?
United 4 ever. We will welcome him at united. Come to think of it he is a good player and most importantly strikes fast.
no doubts, he will be a great addition to which ever team he join
i dont think fergie will try to sign in during the winter transfer window because of the inflated transfer market.
rather, i think ferguson will make his move for villa during the next summer window instead.
I doubt this is true. if he really come, whatever happen to berbatov and owen sia?
I also don't believe with this news.

well, owen is never a permanent signing. and berba is not delivering while he was at spurs. Do U want to keep allowing these two to try and get you goals or U want to dip your pocket and get a proven goal scorer?
okay, villa is not exactly young and may not suit EPL. a risk in that sense too.
but SAF has always favoured the 4 man strikers rotation since 99.
berbacock useless one la..one flashy performance, make the media happy..then play like his normal dun-make-me-chase persona already...unless obertan can prove himself, then he may need other alternatives to better his cole-yorke-ole-sheringham combo...right now, his midfielders performing better than expected..
hey guys am a united fan.. but am sure no.. confident that david villa will be a liverpool player next summer!>>?
