Man Utd stunned by CSKA Moscow price for Akinfeev

  MANCHESTER UNITED have been rocked by CSKA Moscow's decision to slap a £25million price tag on goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

  The Russian shot-stopper is high on Sir Alex Ferguson's list of targets as he searches for Edwin Van der Sar's long-term successor.

  The Scot was hugely impressed by the 23-year-old in his side's two recent Champions League clashes with CSKA.

  The Russians are desperate to keep Akinfeev, valued at £14m by United.

  But Akinfeev wants to leave as CSKA are in danger of missing out on even a Europa League place.

  The keeper currently represents himself in all negotiations, but is considering recruiting an agent after being stunned by CSKA's high valuation.

  but trust fergie, he wont let any clubs take any advantage of that money.

  I think somewhere around 20m can get him. He is still young and not in the mould of VDS, Buffon or Casillass, so 20m is a lot of money for a Russian goalie. He still has a long way to go. Hope he doesnt turn out to be like Taibi or Howard or foster can liao. if spend 25m he turn out to be like VDS, I am sure united wont mind paying that sum of money.

  Actually... if we can pay 30M for a striker, why not 25M for a person to keep out the balls?

  yes but thats not what the clubs think in england. goalie are not as highly valued as in italy or spain. even cech is cheap at 9.5m pounds
