Why United defence is not as good as last season

because ferdinand always injury prone and vidic also injured doesnt help. no consistency whatsoever as the CB always change every week. against chelsea, it was brown and evans and today against everton, it is vidic and brown.

no problem man, jus buy terry n carvalho then man utd defence will be as good n as consistent as chelsea's defence. then buy their midfield also. aft tt can buy barca's forwards, then we will be the best team in the world.
if still not sastified, can also hire mourinho, ancelotti, hiddink, wenger, macini, rijkaard(or wtv the spelling is), blanc, lippi, dunga, del bosque to form a multi-manager panel to manage man utd team. the 11 manager can manage man utd in shifts. can also include avramovic into the panel so he can bring in our s'porean players to play for the man utd reserves' reserve team, thus exposing our players to european football.
we can also persuade obama to buy over man utd from glazers, thus making man utd the most powerful football club in the world (:

well, do note, EDS was not around for a while too. and injury is a major part/concern.
IMHO, defence is a team thingy, the whole team has to pitch in and get their hands dirty. Not just the GK or defenders. Yes, it is their primary jobs, but the MFs need to get in too.
Last season, we have the tevez who was harassing, then the MFs and the defence all pitching in, thus pushing the whole team higher on the field, hence teams struggle to break MU down. Also they fear the pace of Ronaldo, Rooney, and the counters. This season, MU has not fully get in gear with Valencia, Giggs, and their counter is not as feared/fast. So teams are eager to push MU and hence we see the ball coming more into MU halves and less clean sheets.

well to be fair to Evans/Brown, no doubt, they are not as glamous as Rio/Vidic, I felt they did well against Chelsea.
