Pointing the way: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently in charge of the Manchester United reserve team
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being lined up to be the next manager of Norwegian side Rosenborg. The former Manchester United striker is currently the reserve team boss at Old Trafford.
Rosenborg boss Eric Hamren is the frontrunner to take over as head coach of the Sweden national team and has already been interviewed for the position, leaving the Norwegian champions to make contingency plans.
Solskjaer is so highly regarded in his home country that he was offered the chance to manager his country earlier this year. He has again been consulted on who he thinks should land the Norway job, though it is thought the 36-year-old is not in the running for that role.
Solskjaer's adviser Jim Solbakken said: 'It is only natural that the Norwegian club would check out Ole Gunnar’s situation. He will not be reserve team coach at Manchester United for the rest of his life.'
