Federico Macheda burst on to the scene at Manchester United last season, with a last minute winner on debut, against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on April 5, 2009.
Since then, he has gone on to make a name for himself in Italy, which has consequently seen him earn yet another call-up to Pierluigi Casiraghi’s Italian under-21 squad, for their European championship qualifiers against Wales and Luxemburg respectively.
“What I have achieved by being called up to the under-21 national team is beautiful and an important goal for me,” Macheda was quoted as saying to Sky Sport24.
“It’s a great feeling of joy and emotion, and I am looking forward to starting this adventure.”
The 18-year-old went on to discuss his feelings about a potential return to Italy in the future.
He added, “One day I’d love to return to Italy, as obviously it was where I was born and of course I always follow Italian football.
“Lazio? I am a Biancocelesti fan, so maybe one day I will return there, but again, I am happy at Manchester for now.
“To play in the Champions League with them is my dream this season.”
This fella is special la, it will be a shame if he were to go
since he said like that, when the big clubs from Serie A come calling for him, I think he will return to Italy, like Pique back to where he came from, Barcelona.
