United's reserves have mirrored the first team's early pre-season form with two wins from the first two friendlies, albeit on arguably less exotic shores.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side started with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at non-league club AFC Fylde with Tom Cleverley and Sam Hewson scoring in different halves. Mike Clark, whose father Jonathan played for United in the 1970's, pulled one back for Fylde from a corner.
The Reds also won at League Two side Rochdale, 2-0, through Febian Brandy and Corry Evans' first-half goals. Brandy was subbed soon after scoring due to a minor ankle injury.
Team vs Fylde: Heaton (Zieler 46), De Laet, Dudgeon, Chester (Gill 25), Cathcart, C Evans (Norwood 46), Eikrem (Bryan 63), Hewson, Brandy, Cleverley, Stewart (Ajose 63).
