Manchester United's attempts to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Real Madrid have been dealt a major blow.
The talented forward had been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, but the Dutchman now looks likely to sign a deal with Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart in a deal worth €20 million.
Stuttgart are believed to be the only club that have placed a bid that is equal to Real's valuation of the Dutchman, who joined Los Merengues from Ajax in January.
The German side have indicated that they are more than ready to match Hunterlaar's €3.8m-a-year wage packet, after the sale of Mario Gomez to Bayern Munich.
Spanish publication Marca has claimed that Huntelaar only has to agree on personal terms for the deal to go through.
Although he is a key part of the Dutch side that became the first European team to qualify for the World Cup Finals earlier this month, Huntelaar has failed to settle in Spain since joining Real.
The 25-year-old scored eight goals in 20 appearances for his new club. However, he was omitted from their Champions League squad in favour of Lassana Diarra and an approach from United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was thought to be on the cards.
if he doesnt want to come, dun sign him. dun sign players who dun want to come.
the funny thing is we hear or read alot of MU's transfers, but when the rubber meets the road, most are saying MU never put in bids..
that's so strange.. it is not these players don't want to come, but simply MU never bid.
it's all tabloid speculation aye. cant believe in what you read these days, especially in the off season, where speculations abound.
