Sir Alex Ferguson is tipping Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck to challenge for a place in England’s World Cup squad next summer.
At 18, Welbeck is in the fledgling stage of his career and is still well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
However, Ferguson clearly feels the teenager has the world at his feet as he is backing him to catch the eye of England coach Fabio Capello.
"I've told Fabio Capello the boy will be in his World Cup squad next year," said Ferguson.
"Wide left or right or through the middle, he has the intelligence, guts, athleticism, determination and talent to do the job."
United, meanwhile, are reported to be planning a last-ditch offer to retain the services of Carlos Tevez.
The striker has been on loan at Old Trafford for two seasons, but the club are unwilling to fork out the £32.5 million asking price and are trying to thrash out an agreement.
Manchester City are believed to be ready to step in if United fail to secure the Argentine’s signature.
