Manchester United are keeping tabs on Stockport starlet Josh Thompson, skysports.com understands.
Highly-rated defender Thompson is believed to have spent last week on trial at the Premier League champions.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best young prospects outside the top flight after coming through Stockport's youth set-up into the first team this season.
Thompson had a spell on trial at West Brom earlier this month and a number of sides are believed to be monitoring him.
United are one of the teams tracking Thompson and they cast an eye over the centre-half in training last week, prior to the Champions League final.
Stockport are resigned to losing their best players after going into administration last month and United could move for Thompson to head off interest from other clubs.
