Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is not interested in whether Florentino Perez takes over as Real Madrid president.
In his most defiant statement of intent, the Manchester United superstar has made it clear he has no intention of joining the Bernabeu club this summer.
The World Player of the Year wanted to push for a "dream move" to Real last year but Sir Alex Ferguson resisted all attempts to lure him to Spain.
After a saga that dragged on much of the summer, the Spanish media have already started a fresh campaign to back a blockbusting deal for the former Sporting star.
Some English newspapers even copied the reports recently and boldy declared that a deal has already been done to take him to the Spanish capital.
However, Ronaldo clearly enjoyed the title-winning celebrations at Old Trafford and is heading into the Champions League final with Barcelona in good heart.
After being teased by his team-mates that he would need to play centre back for Real, in the wake of their 6-2 battering by Barca, the penny seems to have dropped that the Portugal international is best served staying with the European champions.
"At the moment I'm only thinking about the final independently of what will happen to me or my team-mates next season," he revealed to Atena 3.
"I'm sure Perez would create an incredible team at Madrid but, at the moment, I'm at United and I don't care about what happens there.
"I only care about what will happen next season at Manchester United."
The presidential elections lead to all manner of promises being made in the transfer market and the latest reports coming out of Madrid claim Perez is prepared to look elsewhere for his big-name arrivals, providing he is successful in gaining control.
