City boss and United legend Mark Hughes insists his players will not be scared when they take to the Old Trafford pitch for Sunday’s Manchester derby.
Hughes, who scored 163 goals in 467 games for United, believes too many teams resign themselves to defeat before a ball has even been kicked at the Theatre of Dreams.
The former Reds striker said: “Sometimes teams seem beaten before the game. You look at the teams going there, and sometimes you see them in the tunnel and you think that it's not going to be an easy time for them this afternoon.
"Even in Europe, you sense that some of the teams are actually beaten before they get there. You have to go with a belief that you can perform well as a team.
Meanwhile, City midfielder Vincent Kompany, a player linked with United when he was a youngster at Anderlecht, says he was right to join the blue half of Manchester.
The Belgian international told the Blues' official website: "I've no regrets, and I'm happy to be with City. I have no emotions towards United.
"I'll watch them (United) on TV, and as long as they keep winning, they are the best. As a neutral you have to respect what they are doing.
"They have proved to be one of the best teams in the world, but on Sunday they're just another Manchester team like we are."
