Park Ji-Sung has been promised a place in the Champions League final as Michael Carrick urged his Manchester United team-mates to go to Rome with a hat-trick of domestic titles under their belts.
Park was heartbroken when Sir Alex Ferguson did not even include him on the bench for last season’s final against Chelsea in Moscow.
It caused a national outcry among United’s millions of fans in Park’s native South Korea, while the player himself found it difficult to face his parents.
But after his goal and energetic performance at the Emirates, which followed his strike at Middlesbrough on Saturday, Ferguson vowed to make it up to one of United’s less heralded heroes.
He said: “Ji was disappointed last year but I don’t think he’ll be disappointed this time.We gave him a two-week rest and we saw the results of that freshness.
Carrick, meanwhile, says United must get Rome out of their minds and refocus on securing the Premier League title.
He said: “We are confident. We’re winning football matches, which builds confidence. We’re in good form but there is still work to do before we go to Rome.

It means SAF purposely rested park so he can have enough rest for the final?
