Dimitar Berbatov insists that he has the hunger to improve as a player after aspersions were cast in the Bulgarian’s direction for the penalty he missed in Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final shoot-out defeat to Everton.
Nonchalant is a word often used to describe the striker, though it has taken on a negative connotation after a poor attempt to score from the spot at Wembley last week facilitated United's cup exit.
Berbatov is adamant that he will put the miss behind him as he bids to add to his medal collection.
In expounding on his maiden season at Old Trafford, Berbatov has revealed that he feels inferior to his festooned team-mates.
"I am probably the only player in the United dressing room who hasn't won any of the important medals,” said Berbatov.
"So I sit there and watch the other guys show their medals and talk about what it is like to win the Premier League or Champions League.
"I can't join in with those conversations sometimes because I haven't done what they have done.
“I have settled okay. I don’t have any complaints and the other players have been great helping me to learn about the club. But I am sure I will get better.
“The guys are great, first of all on the field and also off the field.
“It hurts to miss a penalty in a big game like the FA Cup semi-final and it can be difficult for a player to come back from it.
“But we have so many big games coming up that it cannot play on my mind.”
