Manchester United are set to be boosted by the return of defender Wes Brown.
United chief Sir Alex Ferguson admitted last week he was desperate to have the England star back in his squad.
He suggested Brown could feature in the reserve team clash at Preston on Monday, and he did indeed play - getting through an hour at Deepdale without any problems.
Now Brown, who has not played for the first-team since November because of a foot problem, is ready to return to the first-team fold.
Wednesday's clash with Portsmouth at Old Trafford looks like being too soon for Brown - but he could be in line for a place in the squad at the weekend when they face Tottenham.
