Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Darren Fletcher will return for Manchester United's game against Portsmouth on Wednesday.
Fletcher has missed United's last three matches with a minor injury and was one of several players left behind in Manchester for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Everton.
United welcome Pompey to Old Trafford in midweek in the Premier League and Scotland international Fletcher will be back in the squad.
However, Ferguson revealed fellow midfielder Michael Carrick is struggling to shake off a minor complaint in order to take his place in the team.
"We left quite a few players back in Manchester and they'll all be ready for Wednesday," Ferguson told MUTV.
"Darren Fletcher will be fit, for example, but maybe Michael Carrick is the one we'll have to assess a bit more, he could be a close call."
Wayne Rooney will return after Ferguson dismissed reports that the striker had suffered a metatarsal injury in last week's UEFA Champions League win at Porto.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Edwin van der Sar, John O'Shea and Ryan Giggs could also come back into the United starting line-up against Pompey after not being involved at Wembley.
