WINNER ‘MY BEST EVER GOAL’

CRISTIANO RONALDO last night admitted his sensational winner was the best goal of his career.
Ronaldo’s 40-yard strike steered Manchester United past Porto and into a mouth-watering Champions League semi-final against old foes Arsenal.
Ronaldo said: “That’s the best goal I’ve ever scored. I didn’t know it was from 40 yards and flew at 65 mph until I saw the television replay after the game. Wow! It was a fantastic strike.”
Now Ronaldo is confident they can overcome Arsene Wenger’s improving team and become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League titles.
He said: “This victory will give us confidence. We didn’t play well in the previous five games but I’m hoping this will change all that. Arsenal play great football, we know them well and they are going to be two great ties. But we are confident that we can reach the final.”
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson saluted Ronaldo’s super strike, saying: “I’ve got to dig deep into the memory banks to remember a better goal – it was a sensational shot and gave us the perfect start.
“A big difference was also having Rio back. He has been a key part in our success. It will be a terrific tie against Arsenal.”
United will play the first leg at home on April 29 and the return in North London will be the following Tuesday, May 5.

Ok the ronaldo goal was pure awesome. But scholes' screamer against Barcelona last season was also a jaw dropping goal for me.
Both goals are pure rocket and screamer.

Youtube don't have it anymore... You can catch it on Sportscentre later at 12:30 am... They show from a few different camera angles... The wide and that showed the long range one was the best... You could actually see how far out he was (40 yards) and the ball was hit with so much power in open play (not free kick) that even when it hit the net (Top corner) the whole net like rattled vigorously despite being hit from such a distant... -

I have to be objective here.
It was a long range shot with almost no defenders in front of him.
Good goal? Yes.
But comparing with say his freekick goal against Portsmouth which he needed to place accurately, then this is nothing.
