Manchester United youngster Darron Gibson has revealed he knows nothing about recent speculation linking him with a move to Premier League rivals Fulham.
The
21-year-old midfielder has made 12 appearances for the Red Devils this
season, scoring two goals, and says he is concentrating on forcing his
way into manager Sir Alex Ferguson's plans.
"I never heard anything. But I am really happy where I am for the minute," he is quoted as saying by The Irish Examiner when asked about a possible move to the Cottagers.
"This
season, I have been involved a lot more than last season, or the season
before. I’ve learned about how Man United play and about how the
manager works.
"[More Premier
League playing time] is the next step for me. I am pushing at the
moment but I haven’t really got my chances. Hopefully, I can push a bit
more in the next few games and get my chance in the league."
The four-time capped Republic of Ireland international made six appearances in the Carling Cup for United this season, including an appearance against Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
Gibson
believes that being part of a trophy winning team, despite his relative
inexperience, will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career.
"It gives you a massive confidence boost to win a medal at such a young age.
"Some players don’t win a medal in their whole career, so to do it so early is a massive confidence boost for me."
