Ferdinand turned his ankle in the 4-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Fulham on Saturday.
He was substituted at half-time and left the ground wearing a protective boot.
But a scan yesterday revealed no serious damage and the England defender has told friends he hopes to play.
Manager Alex Ferguson is counting on him.
With the tie locked at 0-0 after the first leg, the centre-back’s presence is vital because United cannot afford to concede.
Ferguson said: “Rio’s a bit of a concern. We just have to wait and see how he is.
“I just hope he makes it because he’s such an important player to us.”
John O’Shea is another United concern. The stand-in right-back has a hamstring strain.
If he cant play, I think not a worry for United lah... Still got Evans and Vidic...
