Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak insists the battle with Ben Foster to be the club's long-term number one is not over.
Foster was named Man of the Match in the Carling Cup final win over Tottenham and followed up an impressive 120 minutes with a superb penalty save from Jamie O'Hara as the champions emerged victorious in the shoot-out.
The former Watford loanee has overcome injury problems to assert himself as the logical successor to veteran Edwin van der Sar and Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he feels the 25-year-old is the future at United.
However, the Polish media feel Foster is given unfair preferential treatment in the English press because he is viewed as a great hope for Fabio Capello's national team.
Kuszczak rarely lets The Red Devils down when called upon but does not radiate confidence and is now likely to be considered third in the pecking order.
"In Manchester, it is not journalists but Sir Alex who will determine who will come into the first team," declared Kuszczak to the Polish media.
"Before the match with Tottenham, I was prepared [for the news] that I can not play.
"I do not want to say that I have a bad press here but no, I am not an Englishman."
I do think he is as good as Foster... Yeah, the No.1 spot is still up for grabs...

do you mean in terms of technical abilities? temperament wise i thk foster has the edge. the article is also true in pointing out that he does not radiate confidence within the team when playing... too bad there can only be one and both would not accept 2nd place once vds is gone that's for sure one of them would surely leave
To be honest, till date I still have not been able to decide which is better... They are about the same to me and in my opinion, still not good enough yet...
True, Foster had a decent game but I thought it should be expected on what he did... I actually thought he didn't distribute the ball well at all... Always trying to get the play started by throwing the ball long only for it to go beyond the United player and it ended up with a quick Spurs counter-attact move...
Foster if he is to be United's No.1, he still need to improve a great deal... I think he is only about 1 yr younger than Cech but somehow he doesn't give the same confidence Cech brings... Hopefully he continue to improve for United's good... And yeah, I agree the English Press is making too big a deal out of it... I guess its because he is English...
what's PIG?
Polish International Goalkeeper?
Pole In Goal

yes i agree definitely not gd enough yet... wat they need most now is experience but chances are limited. cech has more regular first team football maybe thats y foster isn't there yet
i think both are overrated. At this point, Foster may seems to be the better gk to TK, but to me, TK seems to be better.
Both dont have the height compared to Edwin VDS, height is one of the most impt attribute for a gk.
Foster's passing reminds me of Barthez in which they look dangerous and unneccessary.
TK is more zai in every aspect...
But for both to succeed VAN, its really hard to imagine lah...
I think need to buy Peter Cech. I am sure, if Special One takes over, he will raid Cech. No player says no to United. (Unless they are a scouser)

yep, b4 the carling cup penalty shootout, can see Edwin towering over Ben Foster.
Tall means longer wingspan lor..
As per discussed, both are not good enough.. I hope SAF can unearth another gem like the great Dane, but no Taibi please..
According to soccernet...
Petr Cech... 1.96
Foster 1.88
VDS 1.96
PIG 1.91
For me, I will choose Foster over TK anytime
because whenever TK is the goalie, i will somehow get nervous when opponents are charging towards him or during corners, he is not as zai as ben foster.
Look at the goal conceeded against blackburn, some may say that it's the defender's fault for not covering. But I feel that TK shouldn't have come out too early, and to stay behind and cover the angle...
Foster over tk

I always wondered why some of you guys here call him "Pig"... At first I thought it was because of his looks... lol.
Now I know why... Pole In Goal (PIG)... So Arsenal has one also I guess... lol

I bet my life he regreted snubbing Man United and Fergie and joined Newcastle instead.

please, he is a georgie at heart, and he is now in their folklore... for winning nothing in their black N white.. well, that's history..
i think is because
all the time
everyone looks at tk like a substitute cos always vds play 1
then suddenly foster comes in
sad la

Foster can get injured easily. TK shoud not be worried. In any case, both gk should be relief at least they are better than Fabien "The Clown" Barthez
