Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is trying to find £18million to beat Real Madrid to the signature of Wigan’s Luis Antonio Valencia.
Ferguson wants to stop the Ecuador winger from going to Madrid in the transfer window. Real yesterday offered £9m to take him on loan for 18 months, with the fee to double if he proves a success in Spain.
Now Ferguson is in urgent talks with United’s owners, the Glazer family, about raising cash in a hurry to snatch Valencia. Chairman David Gill is in America to find the funds after Madrid made their move.
Valencia is obviously tempted by the chance to join one of the biggest clubs in the world, but he would love to stay in England and go to United, who were made aware of the offer by Latics yesterday.
Fergie has a ‘first option’ agreement on Valencia with Wigan and boss Steve Bruce broke the stunning news to him, sparking the alarm bells at Old Trafford.
Valencia would be eligible to play in the Champions League this season, and in the long term Fergie sees him as a potential successor to Cristiano Ronaldo.
wait wait wait...wuts gonna happen to Nani and Tosic then?
he good ah?
NICE!
nani gone case la la...
This Valencia is a right winger... Tosic and Nani are for the left lor... Maybe Park's contract finishing and may not get renew?
if he come, nani ki siao arh -.-
lolx Park dun worry ba after all he first team squad?
well, if he is so good, perhaps a trade?
Don't think SAF will let Park go, he is industrious and can contribute..
and he needs the asian market, right?
No really... Park is coming to 28 soon so I think his all running style will be difficult to continue in a yr or two time and honestly, with or without Park... They will still be as popular in Asia. Park, I am not sure outside of Korea does he has any appeal or not...
no wonder Chelsea got Samsung for their sponser.. lol
rumours! man utd has too many wingers!

Giggs now retiring soon... and he plays center a lot now... never too early to stock up on wingers. And Winker may leave for Madrid anytime we won't know.
I rather have Park.

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has revealed that midfielder Antonio Valencia turned down the chance to join Real Madrid.
Valencia, 23, has attracted interest from a number of clubs but Bruce said the player has chosen to stay at Wigan.
"Valencia has turned down an offer from Real Madrid. It only happened last night [Friday], and it is great news for us," said Bruce.
"He is prepared to stay with us until the end of the season at least, which is fantastic." Reports have also linked Manchester United with an £18m-move for the Ecuadorian international.
Valencia has played over 60 games for Wigan after initially joining on loan from Villarreal in 2006.
The midfielder made the move permanent for an undisclosed fee in January 2008, and has a contract at the JJB Stadium
Bruce has raised £17.5m in transfer fees after selling Emile Heskey and Wilson Palacios in January, and looks set to bring in Newcastle winger Charles N'Zogbia before the end of the transfer window.
"We have lost Emile and Wilson, and the last thing you want to do is rebuild a team in January. Keeping hold of Antonio was paramount."
Real Madrid have been in the market for wide men, and were linked with moves for Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Pennant before the latter joined Portsmouth on loan.
The Spanish club have, however, signed Frenchman Julien Faubert from West Ham on loan until the end of the season for a fee of £1.5m.

to be fair to nani, he does score impressive goals.. but the percentage against him, I think he only scores 20% of his tries, and his assists numbers are horrible..
given how park is not scoring but his assist and running does compensate..
