After Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the FIFA World Player of the Year Award on Monday, there has been much talk over who could be the next potential superstar on the Old Trafford production line to follow in the footsteps of the much-worshipped Portuguese.
One likely candidate identified by observers has been United's recent signing from FK Partizan, Serbian left-winger Zoran Tosic. The 21-year-old, who has won 12 caps for the full Serbian national side, plays in a similar position to Ronaldo and some comparisons are bound to be made between the two players.
But 'Bambi', as Tosic has been christened in the past due to his skinny build, is a different type of player to Ronaldo, claims United manager Alex Ferguson.
"There is a difference - because Ronaldo had this fantastic dribbling ability, whereas Zoran is more straightforward," the Scot explained earlier.
"But the point is we are planning for the future - and the challenge any young player should set himself, no matter which club he is with, is to get to the very top."
Although Ferguson doesn't believe that Tosic is ready for the challenge of the Premier League just yet, with the tough physical nature of the games still an issue for the young man, he hasn't ruled out an appearance for Tosic by the end of this campaign, perhaps as soon as the end of February.
"It is possible he could play," the United gaffer continued. "The physical part is pertinent, because the Premier League is competitive and tough. There is no getting round that fact.
"But, given normal progress, he could be involved. It is a great option for us to have someone with a natural left foot in our team."

with Vidic as his "god"-father, I expect him to have his feet on the ground, and know the difficulties of adapting to EPL..
rem, Vidic had had a few nightmare months but once he stablises, a gem..
yea and he's gonna play against derby ltr.. hope he does well. cant wait to see him replace nani..

hopefully, nani with these new pressure can mature and develop into a Ronaldo-like player..
nani will never be someone good, i always likened him to players like rossi. prolly other leagues would fit him better. he's soft and not intelligent, doesn't get the fouls unlike ronaldo. he's selfish in a wrong way, he's passing barely passes.
zzz hate it when i see him on the starting 11
