Whether he is using his hand to get ahead in a major tournament, or his
cigar smoke to allegedly cause fire alarms to go off in Chelsea's hotel
before a table-top clash, Argentina coach Diego Maradona is no stranger
to controversy when it comes to England.
His latest comments are
sure to rile fans of world champions Manchester United as Maradona
believes it is in Carlos Tevez's best interests to leave the club and
join Serie A title holders Internazionale.
"Yesterday [Sunday] I
saw Manchester United win [3-0 against Chelsea] without Tevez. This
isn't good for him," Maradona told Corriere dello Sport.
"Certain episodes are certainly bringing his exit closer. Italy and Inter in particular would be excellent solutions.
"What's more, his contract is running out, which makes it easier to change clubs."
The former Boca Juniors hero has found first team opportunities
increasingly hard to come by at Old Trafford this season as Sir Alex
Ferguson favours a formation with Dimitar Berbatov playing alongside
Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
The diminutive hard-working forward is coming to the end of his
two-year loan spell with the club, and is owned by Iranian businessman
Kiavash Joorabchian.
United have reportedly baulked at the £32
million price tag being demanded by Tevez's representatives for a
permanent deal and seem set to allow him to move on next summer.
Previously, Real Madrid were credited interest in his services, and Tevez would likely fetch a fee in excess of £20 million.
