Patrice Evra has dedicated Manchester Unitred’s win over Chelsea to The Football Association.
Evra is still smarting about the four-game ban that was handed down to him by The FA for his part in the brawl with Chelsea’s grounstaff last term.
He returned to action against Chelsea on Sunday and played a key part in the 3-0 romp.
“I dedicate this win to The FA because I still haven’t swallowed my four-game suspension,” Evra is quoted as saying in The Sun. “But I had a nice time with my family and a nice holiday.”
Evra limped out of the game with a foot injury shortly after setting up Wayne Rooney for the crucial second goal, but he has played down fears over his fitness.
“I hope it’s nothing,” said Evra. “It’s something I’ve had since the Romania match with France in October. My foot tensed up after the cross but for the moment I’m just thinking of the victory.
“It was a great match. It’s a long time since we scored so many goals so I hope it helps us get our confidence back.
“But the league title is not a sprint, it’s a long-distance race and we will have to keep chalking up the wins.”
