According to the News of the World, Manchester United will attempt to sign Karim Benzema from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer - after they ditch Carlos Tevez.
Benzema
has long been on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar, and he was heavily linked
with move to Old Trafford last summer. However, OL made it crystal
clear that their prize youngster was not for sale.
But now the
21-year-old striker looks certain to leave the Stade Gerland at
season's end, and United have joined the lenghtening queue for his
signature.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also thought to be keen
on the French international, although the latter club's interest may
fade as Tevez edges closer to the exit door at Old Trafford.
The
Argentine forward has been deprived of first-team opportunities this
term - much to bemusement of pundits and public alike, it must be said
- and is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his bit-part role.
Furthermore,
the 24-year-old is approaching the end of his two-year loan spell, and
United seem reluctant to cough up the €34 million required to make the
deal permanent.
Thus, the Red Devils could let Tevez leave and
instead splash out on Benzema, even though it may take upwards of €40
million to prise him away from Lyon.
Of course, these reports are purely speculatory, and only time will tell whether there is any truth in them whatsoever.
poor tevez.. after what u did for the club they treat u like this.. u should have stay at west ham

i think it's a contract problem lah.... his right is owned by a company.. the company of cos wan highest profit possible.... then signed the contract with man u last time.... but now.. with the market like that.. it's not longer worth it to pay so much for him lor..... so... the only chance is when the contract expired.. then they start to renegotiate a new price for him lor....

lets say the deal go thru, most of the money will be going to the company instead of tevez right?
i say keep tevez and buy benzema den sell rooney and berbatov..
I think the news is created only to see if Tevez owners are willing to reduce their asking price... If not then United may consider finding another striker...
lol benzema is another who regards RM as his dream club lei.
better than berbacock.
kns... wat the big deal with RM...
Heck as much as i would like to see Benzema playing for man utd, i'd really love Tevez to stay after what he's done for the club and his attitude
tevez poor thing leh
Persoanlly, I think this is crap.
If SAF can't fit Ronaldo, Rooney, Berba and Tevez, what's the difference Tevez is swapped with Benzema?
and who can gurantee Benzema can be cheaper than Tevez?
Tevez is proven in EPL and already can work with existing team.
Yes, Benzema can be a new dimension but who to sacrifice? Rooney or Berba? Nope of them will happy to sit and play in less important games such as carling cup right?
imo, chelsea should buy benzema and steal them from manutd. They can offer benzema double the amount manunited is paying. That's what money is for right? And not to buy crapping old players like deco, anelka (altho anelka has proven to be quite good)...
even tho benzema didnt perform well in the euro cup but i think his runs and shooting were still amazing. Definitely this player has a lot of potential.

haha... money?? First you have to go pass ManCity. Look @ Robinho for example. Chelsea is not longer the biggest draw.
I don't think Roman is releasing huge sums of money to fund any expensive buys..
Given how RM has got another new Dutch striker, I think Benzema may not go to Spanish League unless Barca..
