Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been handed a two-game touchline ban and fined £10,000 by The Football Association following an incident in a recent Premier League game against Hull City.
Ferguson was punished by the governing body at a meeting of a Regulatory Commission on Tuesday after admitting a charge of improper conduct following his actions at Old Trafford on November 1.
The Scot was furious following a 4-3 win for United and confronted referee Mike Dean at the final whistle, reportedly angry at the failure to show a red card to Tigers defender Michael Turner for a foul on Michael Carrick.
Ferguson was banned for two games and fined £5,000 last December following an incident in a Premier League game against Bolton and his monetary penalty has now been increased following his latest run-in with The FA.
An FA statement read: “At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was given a two-match touchline ban and fined £10,000.
“Ferguson admitted a charge of improper conduct in relation to his behaviour towards referee Mike Dean following United's match against Hull City on 1 November.
“The touchline ban will come into effect from 2 December. In reaching its decision, the Commission took into account Ferguson's admission of the charge and his previous disciplinary record.”
Ferguson will now be forced to watch from the stands for the Carling Cup meeting with Blackburn Rovers on December 3 and the subsequent league game with Sunderland.
