The Bulgarian left White Hart Lane under something of a cloud in the summer after reportedly refusing to play for the Lilywhites.
His late transfer to Manchester United also occurred on transfer deadline day, leaving Spurs little time to find a replacement for the striker. This represented another event which many fans felt contributed to the north Londoners disastrous start to the season.
However, speaking to The Sun, Berbatov admitted he still watched his former team’s games and revealed they held a unique place in his heart.
“I will always have special feelings for Tottenham,” said the 27-year-old, “They showed me the way in English football. I will never have anything bad to say about the club. I watch every game they play.”
The Red Devil also confessed that he had not expected to see his side start the season so badly, going seven games without a win, a run that saw them sink to the bottom of the league table. Berbatov admitted: “I was just surprised the team got off to such a bad start because Juande Ramos was a very good coach.”
Ramos was subsequently replaced by Harry Redknapp and the team are now unbeaten since the new manager’s arrival, a situation that is delighting their former striker. He said: “Now Harry Redknapp has come in, a very experienced manager, and I am pleased they are going up the table.”
Berbatov is due to return to White Hart Lane on December 13 as Spurs entertain Manchester United and despite being a former favourite is not guaranteed a warm welcome by the fans he used to thrill.

Dude, dont be so insensitive lah. It was his former team after all, and for most people, unless they had a bad experience in their former club, otherwise they will always have feelings for it no matter where they go.
Look at Silvestre. He's at Arsenal now, but he still treats his man u team mates with love and respect when he meets them on the field.
after what Sol Campbell got whenever he went back there, it is no surprise Berba wants to get on the good books..
but at least Spurs got $$ for him, unlike Sol..
