Van Der Sar: Delap's Throw Won't Trouble Us
Rory Delap's throw has been a weapon of mass destruction this term and could yet be key in Stoke City's Premier League survival. Manchester United 'keeper Edwin van der Sar, though, isn't fretting.
The defences Everton, Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Arsenal have all been undone by Rory Delap's long throw-ins this season.
In terms of sheer accuracy, obtaining a throw in the final third is more valuable than winning a corner when you have the 32-year-old Irishman in your side.
Edwin van der Sar, though, insists that Manhcester United will be more than prepared for Delap when Stoke visit Old Trafford at the weekend, having worked on dealing with it in training.
"We've been working on it of course and we've got one or two ideas," he told Sky Sports.
"The main thing is if we have the ball we've got to play our game and we've got quality all over the pitch.
"Of course you have to focus on the set-pieces from the opposite team. Normally those of corner kicks or free-kicks and these are throw-ins, so that's a different approach."
Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Foster have seen playing time this term and now the Dutchman seems to be coming to terms with his impending retirement. He mused: "It's not going to be from 9 to 5 sitting behind a desk...I'm going to pick a couple of nice things to do.
"Hopefully I'll do some coaching, do some community work and even commentary for television."We shall see...

Vidic To Delap: Throw Everything You Got At Us!
Nemanja Vidic insists that he and the rest of the Manchester United rearguard will be equipped to deal with the unusual but very real threat caused by Stoke defender Rory Delap's mammoth throw-ins.
Delap's two-handed aerial assaults have become one of the talking points of the season, with the 32-year-old's deliveries producing no fewer than six goals for the Potters so far.
The trajectory, pace and technique of the throw-ins have left many a Premier League centre-back stranded as the likes of Seyi Olofinjana, Mamady Sidibe and Ricardo Fuller have benefitted to great effect.
"I have never come across anything like this," admitted Vidic ahead of United's game against Stoke this weekend.
"The guy can throw the ball 40 metres. It is something we have had to think about, which is why we have practised them in training."
"There is no point getting worried about it. We are at home and we are making chances in every game. We just need to score.
"If we are right, that is what counts, not Stoke.
"We need to keep the ball down, make chances and score early goals. That will change the game and give us more space to play." -
