The left-sided star, 18, has been watched by the Reds for months and a fee of close to £5million has been agreed.
After missing out on Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey, Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson has moved quickly to seal the deal.
Delph has played just 21 first-team games for Leeds, who have already snubbed a bid from Newcastle.
And a United insider said: “It’s as certain as it gets that Fabian will be a Red in January. It’s a done deal.”
Fabian Delph, Leeds United's highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder, has
caught the eye of some of the brigher lights of the Premier League,
with Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Portsmouth
already expressing an interest in acquiring his services.
Delph
is currently undertaking his first full season as a professional,
having only signed professional terms at Elland Road last January.
Nonetheless, the Premier League has come calling, despite the player's tender age.
Delph
has won praise from Leeds manager Gary McAllister and is seen already
as an integral component in Leeds' push for promotion to the
Championship from League One.
The club's chairman, Ken Bates,
claims that he has no intention of allowing the player to leave, and
declared that Delph will see out the full term of the four-year
contract which was signed in September.
Bates told Yorkshire Radio: “I’m sick of reading about it. It’s usually written by people who are flying kites.
"This is the last time I’m saying it. Fabian has just signed a four-year contract and is with us until 2012.
“We do not intend to comment any further on this speculation anywhere.”
