Manchester United have denied suggestions that a decision has been taken to send Owen Hargreaves for surgery on his troublesome knee problem.
The England international has been suffering with tendonitis for well over a year and although he managed to play a prominent role in the club’s Premier League and Champions League successes last season, he has made only three appearances in the new campaign.
The problems afflicting the 27-year-old have been deeply frustrating for both player and club and the Mail on Sunday reported last week that United had decided to send Hargreaves under the knife to leave him sidelined for up to six months.
With a visit to a specialist scheduled imminently though, Sir Alex Ferguson has been keen to stress that no course of action has yet been determined.
“We’re managing it at the moment,” Ferguson told the club’s official website.
“We should have some news next week on our exact position.”
