Gary Neville is heading for a new United contract.
The Reds are set to reward the 33-year-old Old Trafford captain for his fightback from injury that kept him out for 18 months.
He
managed just nine minutes of last season as he shrugged off the
niggling injury aftermath following his ankle ligament problem in 2007.
This
term he has been punching his weight in a three-way fight for the right
back role with Wes Brown and Brazilian teenager Rafael Da Silva.
Neville last signed a deal with United in the summer of 2004.
The five-year contract expires at the end of the season but he is expected to agree a one-year extension soon.
Neville's battling comeback from his long lay-off should be an encouragement to mid-fielder Owen Hargreaves.
