Sir Alex Ferguson has vowed to give all three Manchester United goalkeepers plenty of playing time this season and hailed the ‘outstanding’ Ben Foster.
Edwin van der Sar has long been established as United’s first choice goalkeeper but, as he nears the end of his career, Ferguson is eager to give Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Foster more playing time.
"They will all get their minutes on the clock," he said.
"We have to manage the situation with Edwin because he is 38.
"At that age, we don't need him to play every game because we have two very capable goalkeepers in Tomasz and Ben.
“Having Ben fit again is an enormous boost to us because he is an outstanding goalkeeper."
Kuszczak was given a chance to impress in the 2-0 win over West Ham on Wednesday but, with West Ham enjoying few efforts on goal, the Poland international admits it was a difficult match for his return.
"It is not easy when you have nothing to do, but that is how it is for a goalkeeper,” he said.
“You have to try hard to keep your concentration for 90 minutes.
"You need to do your job properly and keep a clean sheet. This is most important thing for a goalkeeper and of course very important for the team as well.
"It was a big day for me because I have not played for a few weeks. I hope I get another chance soon. Saturday? Why not?"
Has any team rotated keepers and won the league? I can't remember. Hope there won't be much errors when the keepers play...
should be ok just to rotate keepers.
I dont think its a good idea.
A solid defence is built on good understanding between keeper and back four.
