Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar believes the international calender
is at fault for interrupting Manchester United's momentum, and believes
that a prolonged run - without national duty distractions - will be
beneficial if the reigning double champions are to sustain a winning
streak.
"I think it will help a lot. We’ve got around five
months together now which can only be good for the squad," Van Der Sar
told the club's official website.
"Hopefully we can keep
everyone fit," he added. "But we know we’ve got a big enough squad to
cope with a couple of injuries or suspensions if that happens.
"I
want to play in as many games as possible,” he continued. "If the
manager decides to give you a rest then you have to stand by that
decision. But I feel really good at the moment and playing games is
what it’s all about."
