Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that Ryan Giggs may be offered the chance to extend his glittering Old Trafford career.
Giggs has made more appearances for United than any player in the club's history, and Ferguson believes the 34-year-old still has plenty to offer.
"We have to keep him fresh and make sure he has the motivation because I want him to continue," said Ferguson.
"He's an incredible human being and could play another year, no problem."
Giggs overtook Sir Bobby Charlton's long-standing appearance record in last season's Champions League final.
And the Welshman's 10 Premier League titles have helped to make him the most decorated player in United's illustrious history.
His present United deal expires at the end of the season, but Ferguson remains a huge fan.
"He might be 35 in November but he is exceptionally fit," said Ferguson.
"The secret is to manage him the right way because he can still decide games for us.
"He is a fantastic person to have about the place. The experience he brings is invaluable.
"There are certain types of people you only get once in a lifetime. Ryan is just a complete one-off."
Giggs made his name as a dashing winger, with his ability down the flank making him a hugely effective part of a series of successful United sides.
But Ferguson says Giggs is unlikely to be used in that energy-sapping role as the years begin to catch up with him.
"At 34, tramping up and down the touchline is beyond Ryan now," said the Scot.
"You have to respect the job he has done for us going up and down that touchline over so many years.
"No-one in the Premier League comes anywhere near him in terms of his adaptability.
"But I look upon him as a central player, either in midfield or up front."
Overrated.
Fergie should give his fledglings some playing time too. They have quite a number of up and coming players in their reserve team and not to mention the Anderson, Possebon and Nani. Giggs is getting very old le and he won't be as good as the young players physically wise. So i say, let's give the youngesters i shot, shouldn't we? XD
another contract to clean the bench or toilet? get him some role to do in man utd instead lah, he cant do much as a player already. old le. cant really catch up with the pace of younger players. maybe 2nd coach for e reserve team?
