  Manucho poised for United debut

  

  
  

  Angola striker Manucho is in line to make his Manchester United debut in Tuesday night's Carling Cup clash with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford. The African spent the latter half of last season on loan in Greece with Panathinaikos but has now received his work permit and recovered from a broken metatarsal, so should start against Gareth Southgate's men.

  Anderson and Nani are also expected to be in Sir Alex Ferguson's 20-man squad, while Gary Neville should also get some more match practice, with Cristiano Ronaldo once again expected to be on the bench as he continues to search for top form after his recent ankle operation.

  Brazilian defender Fabio Da Silva will miss the tie, though, after being forced to undergo a shoulder operation.

  Da Silva would have been a certain starter but is instead undergoing rehabilitation work for an injury that is likely to rule him out for a couple of months.

  Wah... United going into this match with a very weak side... Don't know if they can take on Middlesbrough or not... I feel they should put out a stronger side cos Boro is still a decent premiership side and only use more youth players against lower division teams...

  I know but at least get through this stage and the next round may get lesser sides so can give the youngsters more chance to play in a competitive environment... If out of this so early, the youngster won't have much change to show anymore...

  But if the youngsters can win against Boro means they are up for a higher challenge ma. If those minnows also cannot beat means they are still long way before they break into the senior set up.

  Boss in shock at horror tackle

  Sir Alex Ferguson was horrified by the challenge from Emanuel Pogatetz which resulted in Rodrigo Possebon being stretchered off the pitch and needing oxygen.
  
  The Brazilian midfielder has since been taken to hospital following a shocking lunge from the Middlesbrough captain midway through the second half.
  
  "It looked a really bad one," Sir Alex told MUTV. "For the kid to make his first start and get an injury like that is pretty horrendous.
  
  "I think everyone was numb for about ten minutes afterwards and it killed our momentum a little bit.
  
  "I've seen a few replays of it and I don't want to see it again. It was just terrible."
  
  The United boss was particularly disappointed by Pogatetz's reaction to the challenge with the Boro defender seemingly protesting his innocence.
  
  "I couldn't understand it [his reaction], he should have walked straight off," declared the manager. "One of the guys on their bench was screaming that it was never a sending off and that there was nothing wrong with Rodrigo.
  
  "But at least Middlesbrough have apologised. Gareth Southgate was very good. He understood the gravity of it and was very apologetic."

  the  manucho abit slow leh i think..but we did well attk alot of times should hav converted some chances
